Islam has a distinct feature where law holds a paramount position. Comprehensive laws addressing existing and future issues are a remarkable achievement unparalleled in history. During the Prophet's lifetime, his blessed personage was the ultimate source for resolving all matters. After his demise, the Companions continued this mission admirably. As time passed, new challenges emerged, and the Four Imams, particularly Imam Abu Hanifa and his disciples (Imam Abu Yusuf, Imam Zufar, and Imam Muhammad), made significant contributions in the second century. Imam Muhammad authored numerous works, and his opinions are now found in various jurisprudential texts, including "Al-Hidayah" by Imam Marghinani. Al-Hidayah showcases the author's profound knowledge, expertise, and interpretive abilities, benefiting scholars for over 800 years. This book has undergone extensive research and remains a staple in religious schools.
Given the scholarly tradition of intellectual debate, Al-Hidayah includes diverse views from Imam Muhammad and other students that sometimes diverge from those of Imam Abu Hanifa, Imam Abu Yusuf, and Imam Zufar.
This study examines Imam Muhammad's individual jurisprudential opinions in Al-Hidayah and their contemporary relevance, aiming to demonstrate their applicability in modern times and promote independent reasoning and research beyond traditional imitation.
