A Research and Analytical Study of The Story of Dhul-Qarnayn in The Light of The Opinions of Commentators

Abstract

It is Allah who revealed the Holy Quran for the guidance of mankind. This is a living, eternal and universal book. The spirit of understanding it has been alive and well in this nation since the beginning. Thanks to this spirit, this nation not only succeeded in dispelling the stain of the sciences and arts that serve the Quran but also succeeded in bringing them to their present perfection. One of the special aspects of these sciences and arts is the interpretation of the Quran due to which every scholar and thinker in every era has searched for the pearls of the Quran through which Quranic thoughts are gradually being revealed. Among the various verses of the Quran, the most important aspect is the story of Dhul-Qarnayn, which has historical significance. Commentators have expressed their different opinions regarding his circumstances and conquests. The opinions of contemporary commentators regarding this event and its historical status are discussed in this article.
